Yamgatha, the play deals with the myth of Pururava from the Mahabharat who not only brought fire from the heavens to earth but also stole the celestial nymph, Urvashi, and married her. The famous Hindi writer, Doodhnath Singh, has re-interpreted the myth as an expression of racial and cultural tension among the Aryans and non-Aryans. Epical in nature, the play has a huge canvas where the two worlds are contrasted in all their complexities and intricacies. Therefore, the production offers a total theatrical experience that is rarely to be found.
